Pingtan, China' s second international tourism island after Hainan, is gaining attention as a premier destination for water sports. Located off the coast of Fujian province,it recently hosted the 2025 National Windfoil and Kitefoil Championships, which also served as qualifiers for the 15th National Games sailing events.

Over seven days, 178 athletes from across China competed in windfoil and kitefoil races, including youth and team categories. The top performers secured spots in the upcoming national games.

In the fiercely contested team events, Guangdong won the windfoil title, while Shanghai came out on top in kitefoil.

"The conditions here were excellent," said Zhang Haoran from the Shandong team. "The strong and steady wind made it a perfect stage for competition."
