Pingtan, a comprehensive pilot zone for cross-Straits integration off Fujian's coast and China's second international tourism island, has seen its young athletes achieve remarkable results in recent national and provincial sports events.

In a standout performance at the national level, the Pingtan Baseball and Softball Association team claimed the championship in the U12 Coach Pitch A Group at the 2025 "Run, Youth" National Youth Sports Club Softball and Baseball League finals. Held in Ordos, the event drew 67 teams from 15 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China, with 213 matches played over five days. This victory marks the best-ever result for Pingtan in this national competition.

Li Bifeng, president of the Pingtan Baseball and Softball Association, spoke highly of the event, noting that"it has enhanced the young players' practical experience psychological resilience, while also allowing them to forge friendships. Winning the championship is another glorious achievement for Pingtan's youth baseball and softball."

Pingtan's young athletes also excelled in various provincial championships. In baseball, both the first-tier and second-tier teams secured second place at the 2025 Fujian Youth Baseball Championship. In wushu, the male athletes in the first-tier group dominated the 2025 Fujian Youth Wushu Championship: they swept the top three positions in the three-section staff event, claimed the title in the praying mantis fist event, and achieved several high rankings in the drunk sword event. 

In badminton, the Pingtan team won the team championship in the first-tier group at the 2025 Fujian Youth Badminton Championship, with six athletes earning national first-class athlete certificates. The football team took second place in the first-tier group at the 2025 Fujian Youth Football Championship, and the 3x3 basketball team clinched the first place in the second-tier group at the 2025 Fujian Youth 3x3 Basketball Championship.

A staff member from the Sports Division of Pingtan's Culture and Tourism Bureau attributed these results to the region's efforts, stating that they reflect "Pingtan's focus on youth sports work in recent years, as well as the effectiveness of improving the training and competition system and strengthening the cultivation of reserve sports talents."
