Pingtan, situated off the coast of Fujian Province and being the closest mainland location to the island of Taiwan, is a comprehensive pilot zone dedicated to cross-Straits integration. It also holds the distinction of being China's second international tourism island, following Hainan. Within this vibrant island, Wuxing Village, a once quiet traditional fishing village on Pingtan's eastern side, has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a sought-after tourist destination.

Wuxing Village, which is a candidate for the third batch of provincial-level rural revitalization model villages, owes much of its success to the favorable wind conditions and extensive coastline, which faces the Taiwan Straits. For years, the village relied heavily on fishing, with its fortunes tied to the whims of the weather. However, a new chapter began in 2022 when the Pingtan International Sailing Sports Training Base broke ground here, also serving as a venue for international kitesurfing competitions.

The village's core appeal lies in its consistent wind and expansive beach, making it ideal even for kitesurfing starters. From June to October each year, during the monsoon season, the wind conditions are particularly optimal, drawing a large number of domestic and foreign professional athletes and enthusiasts. "I first came here for training in 2015, and I've witnessed the village grow. The transportation and infrastructure are now so well-developed that this is my top choice for training," said Li Jiabao, a kitesurfing coach. Dalian native Wang Chao, an enthusiast, shared, "Being able to train alongside top athletes from around the world here is a unique experience."

To complement the wind sports, Wuxing Village has developed a range of tourism offerings. The Wind Chaser Livehouse Music Restaurant, with its floral decorative walls, coconut palm huts, and music stage, is already in trial operation, adding a vibrant touch to the beachside area. The Pingtan Licheng Sailing Seaview Hotel integrates dining, accommodation, conferences, and training, aiming to blend natural scenery with a laid-back island lifestyle. For those seeking a taste of tradition, the "sea fishing with big nets" activity, which preserves the ancient fishing technique, has become a popular tourist attraction. Inner Mongolian visitor Xu Ligang was among those who enjoyed this experience, finding joy in the authentic thrill of sea fishing.

The village's development is evident in its neat roads, well-maintained houses, and improved facilities such as transportation, water supply, and lighting. With the influx of visitors and increased exposure, Wuxing Village stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, offering a unique coastal experience.
