Pingtan, located off the coast of Fujian province, is the closest point on the Chinese mainlandtothe island ofTaiwan. It serves as a comprehensive pilot zone for cross-Straits integration, a key hub for international trade and logistics, and China's second international tourism island following Hainan.

The fishing boats, with engines running at full power, set sail for the sea.

At 12:00 on August 16, Pingtan's three-and-a-half-month summer fishing moratorium came to an end. Nearly 300 fishing boats set sail from various ports across the region, embarking on a new round of fishing expeditions.

Ahead of the reopening, fishermen spent the morning making active preparations, loading daily necessities, fishing nets, equipment, and supplies onto their boats. Fisherman Nian Baoqu looked forward to a full load on his first trip out after the moratorium, while Chen Liping, the wife of Yu Jianmei, hoped that everyone would return safely.

The fishing boats participating in this fishing season include various types such as trawlers and light-seine boats. Trawlers are expected to return to the port in about 3 days, and light-seine boats can bring back the first batch of catches within 1 to 3 days. By then, fresh seafood will enrich citizens' dining tables.
