The 13th Cross-Straits (Pingtan) Taekwondo Exchange Tournament and the 13th Fujian Province Mass Taekwondo Championship took place from August 17 to 19 in Pingtan. This year's event has drawn over 700 taekwondo enthusiasts from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

Pingtan, a comprehensive pilot zone focused on cross-Straits integration, is the closest place on the mainland to the island of Taiwan. Its unique status as an important hub for cross-Straits exchange makes it an ideal venue for such events, serving as a bridge for cultural and athletic exchange between the two regions.

The competition features six divisions, ranging from children to adults, with events including sparring, poomsae (forms), and taekwondo dance performances, blending professional competition with a communal event and offering a thrilling display for spectators.

Notably, the event combines the cross-Straits exchange tournament with the Fujian provincial championship, further promoting the integration of sports and culture across the Taiwan Straits. Through sports and cultural events, Pingtan continues to strengthen ties between people on both sides.
