Pingtan Port ships 2025's first semi-trailer to Taipei via cross-Straits ferry
en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2025-09-03 | Lin Kongbo, StephaniePingtan, a coastal area in China's Fujian Province and the mainland's closest point to the island of Taiwan, is a key pilot zone for cross-Straits integration and a vital hub for cross-Straits trade and logistics. Recently, the island exported its first semi-trailer to Taiwan in 2025.
The semi-trailer is a 16.5-ton low-bed model, designed to transport heavy loads including construction machinery, rail vehicles, and large trucks. It has a specific capability for carrying overheight cargo and originated from Jining in Shandong Province. The vehicle was loaded onto the "Taipei Express" ferry at Pingtan Port's Jinjing Wharf, with Taipei Port as its destination.
Pingtan Customs implemented measures including one-on-one guidance for the involved enterprise, advance development of inspection plans, and promotion of pre-declaration services. These measures enabled the cargo to undergo inspection immediately upon arrival and complete customs clearance quickly.
Pingtan Border Inspection Station adopted online declaration, online approval for administrative permits, 24-hour service, and flexible staffing arrangements. These measures allowed the ferry to depart once the semi-trailer was loaded, maintaining the operation of the cross-Straits transport route.
