Vanuatu parliamentary delegation visits Pingtan

Led by Paul Paoalo, Third Deputy Speaker of Vanuatu's Parliament, and Jones Malenmwen, Chairman of the Economic and Foreign Policy Committee, the delegation focused on exchanges in Austronesian culture, marine ecological governance, and island tourism development.
At the Pingtan Keqiutou Site Museum, the delegation learned about archaeological findings on the Austronesian peoples through guided tours and cultural relics on display, gaining a clearer understanding of the group's origins and spread. "Pingtan's experience in preserving and bringing cultural ruins to life is invaluable and offers important lessons for Vanuatu," the delegation noted. "We hope to strengthen mutual learning and integration between different civilizations through further exchanges."
During their visit to the Island Research Center under China's Ministry of Natural Resources, the delegation was briefed on the center's achievements in island ecological protection and effort in sustainable marine management. They commended the center's progress in ecological restoration, stating, "Vanuatu also faces the dual challenges of island ecological protection and economic development. Pingtan's experience provides a replicable green solution for us."
The delegation also visited the 68-Nautical-Mile scenic area, where they observed Pingtan's island tourism development model and learned about its innovative practices in integrating culture and tourism.
