Pingtan, China's second international tourism island known as the closest point on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan, is set to host a major international cultural event to welcome the new year. The renowned Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra will hold its 2026 New Year's Concert on the evening of December 31, transforming the coast into a venue for a world-class musical celebration.

The highly anticipated performance will take place at the Pingtan International Performing Arts Center. This performance marks a significant journey, described by the event organizers as not merely a long musical distance from Brussels to Pingtan, but also a romantic encounter between Eastern and Western cultures on New Year's Eve.

The acclaimed Belgian orchestra will present a specially curated program showcasing its technical mastery. The concert is designed to appeal to a diverse audience with selections appropriate for several different tastes:

Classical Music Aficionados: Featuring classic melodies that evoke nostalgia for fans.

Cultural Fusion Enthusiasts: An opportunity to experience the unique and harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese folk music alongside a symphony orchestra.

Opera and Niche Music Explorers: Offering a diverse repertoire that highlights the ensemble's stylistic flexibility.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and will have a running time of 110 minutes, which includes a 15-minute intermission.
