Pingtan, part of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone and a key hub for international trade and logistics, has recently received its first batch of carrot seeds imported through its port. A total of 500 kilograms of high-yield, crisp and sweet carrot seeds originating from Chile arrived at Jinjing Port Area via the "Taibei Express" ship, marking a new milestone for agricultural imports at the port.

After on-site inspection and sampling by customs officials, the seeds were promptly transported to a designated storage facility for temporary storage, awaiting laboratory test results. Once certified qualified, they will be used for agricultural production in the upcoming spring.

"Seeds are perishable goods that require strict control of temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions as well as professional technical support," said Li Jie, a customs official of Pingtan.

Data shows that as of 2025, Pingtan has imported four batches of vegetable germplasm resources totaling over 2.5 tons with a total value of 1.7 million yuan under customs supervision, as local authorities continue to optimize the port's business environment to facilitate the rapid clearance of high-quality seeds and ensure the timely supply of agricultural materials.
