Pingtan, an international tourism island off the coast of Fujian Province and a key hub for cross-Straits integration, hosted the 2025 Fujian Youth "Eagle Soaring" Aviation Games alongside the inaugural Pingtan Low-Altitude Flight Elite Challenge from December 6 to 7, 2025. The event, part of the "Soaring China (Pingtan)" series focusing on unmanned systems and low-altitude economy, drew nearly 400 young competitors from across Fujian to showcase their skills in a dynamic blend of technology and sports.
The two-day competition featured five core events, including simulated flight, drone operation, and aviation commentary, covering age groups from primary school students to vocational college learners. Competitors demonstrated remarkable precision and agility: drones navigated obstacles with finesse, drone soccer matches unfolded in intense aerial showdowns, and racing drones streaked through tracks leaving graceful arcs in the sky. Additional drone challenges included target shooting and cargo transport, while the emergency-response segment emphasized real-world application capabilities. After fierce contests, winners were announced across all categories on the final day.
Luo Tianyu, a participant from Fuzhou, highlighted the thrill of the obstacle challenges. "Negotiating barriers tests quick reflexes and precise control, especially the maneuver of pulling up rapidly at low altitude—it's exciting and highly challenging," he said, noting his ambition to pursue a career as a racing pilot. Lin Luxi, one of the awardees, shared his enthusiasm for the event: "This competition has given me valuable racing experience. As an aviation enthusiast, I particularly enjoy the sense of freedom when operating racing drones, and the undulating track design and crossing challenges are incredibly engaging."
During the event, a certification ceremony was held to expand Fujian's youth aviation talent development network. Several institutions were named "Fujian Youth Aviation Sports Enlightenment Bases," while Pingtan Jianti Sports Technology Co., Ltd. received the same title. Chen Youfeng, company's principal, commented on the recognition: "This certification is both an encouragement and a responsibility. We will continue to improve our teaching quality to support the development of youth aviation education."
Du Jinen, president of the Fujian Aviation Sports Association, emphasized the event's core mission: "The 'Eagle Soaring' program is a key part of Fujian's aviation sports industry blueprint, focusing on aviation enlightenment. We aim to inspire young people's interest in aviation through such competitions." Notably, local competitors from Pingtan accounted for over a quarter of all participants, reflecting strong regional enthusiasm for aviation sports.
