Pingtan, a coastal area in Fujian Province committed to advancing educational openness, has witnessed two key partnerships between local schools and prestigious UK institutions  during the Fujian Provincial Primary and Secondary School International Exchange Event for Sister Schools with Hong Kong and Macao. 

Pingtan No.1 Middle School and Leighton Park School, along with Pingtan Qilin Primary School and Plymouth College, formally signed cooperation memorandums to establish a framework for mutual exchange. The collaborations are built on the principle of equality and mutual benefit, aiming to facilitate student and teacher visits, joint curriculum development, and shared teaching research initiatives.

Pingtan No.1 Middle School is a 113-year-old institution recognized as a Fujian Provincial Model High School and a National Experimental School for Science Education. Pingtan Qilin Primary School, founded in 2018 and known for its strengths in science education as a Fujian Provincial Science Education Featured School. The partnership marks a milestone in their international outreach.

The UK partners bring significant educational pedigree: Leighton Park School has a strong track record of sending graduates to top universities including the Russell Group, Oxford, and Cambridge, while Plymouth College—established in 1877—excels in sports, science, and the arts, holding a reputable position in international basic education.

The partnerships align with Pingtan's efforts to implement national policies on educational opening-up, fostering cultural understanding and academic collaboration between Chinese and British youth through practical, hands-on exchanges.
