Pingtan Island has earned national recognition after being selected as one of the 2025 "China Cycling Map" Top 100 Premium Routes, according to results recently released by the Chinese Cycling Association.
The award-winning route, known as the Pingtan Island Coastal Cycling Loop, is celebrated for its sweeping sea views and high-quality cycling conditions. It has become a new sports landmark showcasing Fujian's rugged mountains and stunning coastlines.

Running almost entirely along the coastline, the route unfolds alongside a continuous ribbon of blue waters and white sandy beaches. Cyclists feel the sea breeze and hear the rhythmic crash of waves as they ride. Along the way, giant wind turbines turn slowly against the backdrop of rolling hills, shimmering water and golden tidal flats, forming what many describe as a "living coastal painting." Thanks to its striking scenery, the route has also become a favourite among photographers.

Beyond its visual appeal, the cycling experience itself stands out. The road surface is smooth, traffic is light, and safety and comfort are well balanced. Accessible to all, it lets every cyclist feel what locals describe: the sublime sensation of riding within a work of art.
Pingtan is widely regarded as an ideal destination for cycling. The open views, gentle terrain, and minimal climbs make the coastal trail a feasible and satisfying one-day journey that is friendly for beginners while still rewarding for experienced cyclists.

From coastal vistas and stone forest challenges to ancient village explorations, Pingtan offers a variety of cycling routes—each promising a different way to experience the island's openness, freedom and seaside charm.
