Pingtan, a renowned Fujian international tourism island with cross-Straits exchange potential, has boosted its foreign trade profile with a significant milestone. On January 20 at 11 am, the vessel "Nanshun 29" departed Jinjing Port carrying over 20 million yuan worth of engineering equipment—including loaders, excavators and crawler cranes—to Algeria's Annaba Port, marking the port's first such export to the nation.
The equipment supports the Belt and Road-backed reconstruction of Annaba's phosphate terminal, a project set to add five 80,000-ton bulk berths. The expansion is designed to boost Algeria's industrial integration—from mines and railways to processing and ports—and diversify its exports beyond hydrocarbons.
"This is our first overseas engineering export. The authorities guided us through clearance doubts to meet the deadline," said Chen Qiaoyun, a manager of Pingtan Foreign Shipping Agency.
Efficient clearance was facilitated through the International Trade "Single Window," a platform coordinating Pingtan Customs, the Pingtan Maritime Safety Administration, and other local authorities.
