Pingtan Island, a scenic coastal island in Fujian Province facing the Taiwan Straits, is famous for its blue waters, golden sands and time-honored stone houses. It has become a destination for wellness travel thanks to a yoga healing village created by seasoned yoga therapist Chen Mo.

A peaceful resting space facing the sea

With 25 years of experience in yoga therapy and international teaching background, Chen Mo returned to her hometown Pingtan and turned idle stone houses in Wuxing Village into a peaceful healing center. The first phase of the yoga healing village is now open, offering yoga courses and wellness retreats that blend nature and mindfulness.

Chen's teaching draws on anatomy, psychology, and yoga philosophy. She emphasizes physical and mental harmony over perfect postures. Her signature "wave meditation" is simple: she guides students to breathe with the rhythm of the ocean. The natural sound of the tides does the rest—easing anxiety, calming the mind.

The healing center keeps the rustic look of Pingtan's stone houses while adding warm interior details. It provides yoga studios, therapy rooms and leisure spaces, working with local homestays to offer an immersive island lifestyle experience. Partner Xu Lai said the venue is designed as a "third space" for relaxation, meditation and self‑reflection, not just a photo spot.

Many visitors have experienced life-changing changes. A postnatal depression patient regained confidence and physical health after three months of practice. A former shoe store owner quit her business to become a certified yoga teacher. Students reported better physical fitness and a more peaceful mindset.

The project plans to launch professional yoga therapy teacher training, develop more wellness retreat products, and upgrade tourism from sightseeing to long‑term stay. It will also cooperate with local homestays and hotels, create jobs for villagers and improve the local living environment.
