Pingtan Everlasting Dumpling

en.ptnet.cn | Updated:2026-04-28 | Lin Dan

Pingtan Everlasting Dumpling is a iconic local delicacy from Pingtan.

It features a crispy, chewy and glutinous outer skin with sweet granulated sugar filling inside.

The wrapper is kneaded from mashed sweet potato, sweet potato powder and glutinous rice flour, stuffed with red bean paste or mixed nut and sugar fillings. After deep-fried at high temperature, it turns golden brown with a rich, inviting aroma. With a shape similar to dumplings, it is also locally called “Oil Dumpling”.

In the Pingtan dialect, the word for dumpling shares the same pronunciation as “long-lasting”. Hence it is named Everlasting, symbolizing eternal happiness and blessings. It has been a must-have dish for weddings and festive banquets across Pingtan.
