Despite rainy conditions, the crews navigated shifting winds and rolling waves along a designated offshore course, delivering an exciting display of skill and strategy. In the end, the Pingtan Longzhou Sailing Team took first place, followed by the Philippine Haixianzhi Sailing Team in second, and the Fujian Longyi Mazda Sailing Team in third.
June, a member of the Philippine team, said, "I also sail in the Philippines, but this experience was completely different. It's my first time in Pingtan, and I'm very happy to be here."
Liu Chen, captain of the Nanmendou United Sailing Team, which normally trains on the Min River, highlighted the challenge of the offshore race. "The conditions here are completely different from river training," he said. "Combined with the changing weather, the competition was much tougher, which made it more exciting and competitive."
The event showcased the growing popularity of sailing in Pingtan and highlighted the region's suitability for hosting international maritime sports events.
