On June 8, Pingtan officially launched its cross-Straits fisheries and leisure vessel maintenance center, a key infrastructure boost for the island's marine tourism and maritime industries.
Covering 23,000 square meters with a total investment of 155 million yuan, the facility includes an R&D building, four workshops, and specialized areas for dust-free painting, fiberglass lamination, ship assembly, and warehousing.
The center supports Pingtan's goal of becoming an international marine leisure destination by addressing local gaps in boat manufacturing and maintenance services.
Jiaxin Yacht Group, the center's operator, brings full-scale construction capabilities for vessels from 30 to 120 feet and develops new energy unmanned boats, twin-hull business yachts, leisure fishing boats, and luxury party yachts. Chairman Gong Yunguang noted the facility will also offer maintenance and servicing for local fisheries and leisure vessels, easing challenges related to limited repair options and inadequate support infrastructure.
The project also integrates ship exhibitions, second-hand boat trading, and crew training, expanding the local industrial ecosystem while creating new jobs and income opportunities for the community.
"We plan to leverage factory walkways and yacht showrooms to develop unique marine tourism experiences," Gong said. "We are creating a new 'factory tour and sea adventure' experience, transforming Pingtan's yacht industry from simple sightseeing into a complete ecosystem that combines yacht manufacturing, pier operations, and marine tourism."
