A restaurant serving bold tantalizing snail bake and Taiwan fares opened on Sept 1 at Taiwan-themed Town of Pingtan, the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan.
Mid-Autumn Festival is an important holiday in China. For most families, it is a time for family reunions, social gatherings, and sumptuous meals. Another year has passed since the pandemic. Like last year, many Taiwan compatriots have celebrated the festival in Pingtan.

Chen Mengbang from Taiwan, who came to Pingtan to start a business in 2015, witnessed the development of the IC industry from scratch to the initial establishment of an industrial chain system in Pingtan.
In Shanglou Village of Pingtan, Guo Xinjie and Lin Fengjie, two youths from Taiwan run the "Loutaihui," a mandarin compound meaning a site of encounter for Pingtan and Taiwan.
This summer, four college students from Taiwan who come from different schools met in Pingtan, Chinese mainland’s closest neighbor of Taiwan.
Based on Pingtan’s facilitated cross-Straits logistics and roles as a window for China’s opening up to the outside world, both parties aim to build a fast lane for trading bulk farm products from Taiwan and Southeast Asia.
Through this programme, the highlights and characteristics of Pingtan will be promoted, so that more people of insight can come to Pingtan and build it into a common homeland for compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
